Thomas “Tom” Lawrence Rocap, Sr., 64, recently of Beaumont, TX, formerly a lifelong resident of South Jersey, primarily Vineland, NJ and son of the late Anna Jane and Thomas R. Rocap of Vineland, NJ, is survived by his two brothers, Keith Rocap (Vineland, NJ) and Kevin Rocap (San Francisco, CA); a son and his spouse, Thomas L. Rocap, Jr. and Erin DeLeon, of Beaumont, TX, and their children; Tony Holland and wife Amy, Cheyenne, and Colt and grandchildren; Carson and Asher as well as by extended family and friends. Tom was a much loved caring friend and family member, who often sought to be of service whether in his church, in his work, or in support of and in community with family and friends. Over the years Tom worked in various vocations, as a care provider for youth and adults with developmental disabilities, at The Training School at Vineland; as a home health care worker; on the floor of casinos in Atlantic City; and as a real estate data specialist, searching and abstracting deeds. In Vineland, Tom attended The Ellison School and Vineland Senior High School, and had an Associate Degree from Cumberland County College. Tom grew up in the First United Methodist Church in Vineland, NJ and later became an active member of Grace Family Church, Atlantic City, where he retired as an usher, with recognition, upon his decision to move to Beaumont, TX. He also volunteered at a Bible Bookstore in Vineland. Thomas moved to Beaumont at the invitation of his son (a math teacher in the Beaumont School District) to retire and enjoy time with his son and his son’s family. He also continued his worship, attending two churches in the Beaumont area, The Anchor Church and Gospel Tabernacle Beaumont. Tom recently enjoyed and became a new participant in the Live Action Role Playing (LARPs), multi-participant creative camping expeditions with dramatic enactments of original stories and character role plays, created by his son Thomas, Jr., in collaboration with others. Tom enjoyed learning about and conversing with other LARPers. Tom will always be missed and warmly remembered by his family and friends.
