Thu was born on May 7, 1940, in Hai Phong , Vietnam to Soan and Nghiem Nguyen. In 1959, he married his wife, Hien Thi Nguyen, whom we all call "Bu." They shared 60 wonderful years together. In 1975, he brought his family to the United States, where they built a loving home in Beaumont, Texas. Together he and Bu raised 9 children, who gave them the joy of 24 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Our grandpa was a man who was deeply devoted to his family, faith and community. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he faithfully attended Mass and took part in many of the church activities. G-PAW was a jack of all trades - a man of the sea, a world renowned chef, a handyman, and had a green thumb for all sorts of plants. Although he had many talents, he was always humble and above all else, loved his family. He took great pride in cooking for his family, being with his grandchildren, and working on projects around the house. G-PAW will always be remembered for his delicious meals, his strong-will, and loving personality.
He is survived by his brother, Nguyen Van Sanh (Vi), his loving children: Hoa (Chau), Thuy (Trang), Loan (Minh), Dam (Tram), Tony (Dana), Diana (Joseph), Nancy (Vinh), Donny (Anh), 24 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and host of family and friends. He is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Soan and Nghiem Nguyen, beloved wife Bu, sisters Tinh and Xe, brother Cu, son John, and granddaughter Paige.
G-PAW's love and care will always be in our hearts and we will miss him dearly.
