

Val Wingate, 102, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon, February 10, 2026. She was a faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her faith in Christ governed her life and made her shine to her family. She was an active member at Calvary Baptist Church for many years and Wildwood Baptist Church for many years. She was always smiling and loved her family and friends.
She is survived by Dorothy and Steve Travis, her daughter and son-in-law, Raymond Reed, her son-in-law, seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Val had six brothers and sisters. She is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Wilkinson and Della Singleton. She is preceded in death by William Wallace, her husband from 1945 - 1980, and John Wingate, her husband from 1981 - 1999, two daughters, Carole Ann Reed and Margaret Silverberg, and grandson, Kyle Bobo.
She was a servant at heart and served in her church for 35+ years as Nursery Coordinator. She was gentle and loving and had a special gift with children. She was involved in Women’s Missionary Union at her church and volunteered for Vacation Bible School. At her home in Wildwood, she rose early every morning to walk and read her morning devotions with a cup of coffee. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family, playing 42 or getting on the ground with her great-grandchildren. Her doors were always open and everyone felt welcome in her home.
She will be laid to rest on February 20th at 3:00 p.m. in a graveside service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, Texas.
