Vergil loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending as much time with her family for birthdays – holidays and family reunions – she loved when the music began – dancing and singing with her children – nieces and nephews to Karaoke. Vergil especially enjoyed traveling with her family and friends to Casino’s – trips with her daughters – Debra – Diane and Denise - sister Martrel and brother- Phillip and nephew- Randy. Traveling to the Caribbean for family Scuba Diving Trips with family and friends – having many adventures along the way – always making memories and taking pictures to cherish those forever.
Vergil was a devoted wife and mother – making sure that all of her children’s needs were met – being a stay at home mom – until the kids were older – she decided on a career choice – at middle age Vergil enrolled and attend Beauty College located at the Village Shopping Center where she received her cosmetology license. Vergil’s career began by operating the Beauty Shop at the former Hamilton Nursing Home (a family owned and operated Long Term Care facility). After serving the hair styling needs of the elderly – Vergil decided to pursue another line of work – becoming – A Medical Records and Payroll Clerk at Hamilton Nursing Home. Vergil’s confidence in herself – allowed her to expand her career beyond the family owned and operated business – she also worked in the Medical Records Department at Baptist Hospital, Beaumont, Texas – Senior Rehabilitation Nursing Center and Park Center Nursing Centers in Port Arthur, Texas as well as College Street Health Care Center as the last employer on her career journey in 2002. Vergil retired in 2002 to care for her husband Glenn Hamilton and devoting her time to making sure his healthcare needs were met.
Vergil is survived by her children: Debra Jean Hamilton-King; Diane Hamilton; Denise Hamilton; Darrell Glenn Hamilton – Grandson: Jason C. Darrell and Great Grandson: Shawn Darrell – also many nieces and nephews
Mrs. Hamilton is preceded in death by her husband – Glenn Hamilton; parents: Vernon and Bobbie Carrico; sisters Martrel Fregia; Bobbie Basham; Laverne Denby; Audrey Davis and brother – Phillip Carrico.
A visitation of Mrs. Hamilton’s family and friends will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm – Wednesday – November 30, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park – 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas – Her funeral service will be Thursday – December 1, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank the Nurses; Doctors and Chaplain at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas – ICU Unit for the excellent care provided to Mrs. Hamilton and emotional support provided during her stay. Also special thanks to the Nursing Staff at Arden Place of Beaumont who provided exceptional care during her time at their facility.
