
Born in Beaumont on February 12, 1949, Virginia was the daughter of the late Refugio Carmona Sr. and Marcella (Dominguez) Carmona. She spent her entire life in the community she loved and was devoted to her Catholic faith. When she was able, Virginia enjoyed attending Mass at many of the parishes in and around Beaumont.
In her earlier years, Virginia loved traveling and exploring the beauty and history of the United States. Among her favorite destinations were Mount Rushmore, Yosemite National Park, and many other national parks and historical landmarks. She also enjoyed visiting museums, sewing, working on craft projects, and spending time with her favorite puzzles, including jigsaw puzzles, word searches, and crosswords.
Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She cherished her family and will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and the love she shared with those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Refugio Carmona Sr. and Marcella Carmona; her brothers, Refugio Carmona Jr. and John Carmona; her sisters, Marie “Marty” Carmona and infant sister Catherine Carmona; and her brothers-in-law, Rudy Cruz and Gary Elshire Sr.
Virginia is survived by her loving daughters, Christina Bernal and Jayde Bernal; her cherished granddaughters, Kassie Baxter and Katlyn Baxter; her brother, Tony Carmona; her sisters, Josephine Cruz, Linda Carmona, and Victoria “Vickie” Elshire; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Cremation services will be held under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. A graveside service for the interment of her ashes will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont, Texas.
Virginia's memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
