Walter Allerton Lombard IV, known fondly as Buzzy (Buz) to his loved ones, entered this world on January 8, 1938, in Texarkana, Texas, the cherished son of Walter Allerton Lombard III and Blanche Hammond.
From his earliest days, Buzzy's journey was marked by resilience and determination. Raised in Beaumont, Texas, he embarked on his path, taking on the role of a paperboy while attending the new French high school. Graduating in 1956, his thirst for knowledge led him to Lamar University studying in the field of engineering. Buzzy's adventurous spirit led him to volunteer with the America’s Navy, where he honed his skills as a radio operator, spending two summers in the frigid expanses of McMurdo Sound in Antarctica as part of Operation Deep Freeze, a mission for the National Science Foundation.
Returning home, Buz delved into the burgeoning field of audio sound before transitioning to calculator sales and ultimately finding his niche in computer programming. A visionary ahead of his time, he wrote programming codes for financial industries in Beaumont, Texas, long before computer programming became commonplace.
Buz was more than his professional achievements; he was a man of many passions and talents. An avid HAM amateur radio operator from his teenage years, he found joy in electronics and could mend anything with his skilled hands. His gentle demeanor and unwavering convictions endeared him to all who knew him.
In his passing, Buz is reunited with his beloved mother, Blanche Lombard, father, Walter Allerton Lombard III, and sister, Van Dell Lombard McCanne, as well as his two sons, Mario and Frank Lombard.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by his wife of many years, JoAnn Bonura Lombard, his daughter Juliet Lombard Petty, his son Walter Allerton Lombard V, daughter-in-law Michelle Marie Lombard, son-in-law Bobby Neal Petty, grandchildren Sarah Elizabeth Betar, Josephine Juliet Cudd, Mia Rose Lombard, Kyle Christopher Douglas, Camille Michelle Lombard, and great-grandchildren Juliet Ann (Julianne) Cudd and Mark Allen Guidry, as well as many very close family and friends.
Walter Allerton Lombard IV's spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him, his memory a beacon of strength and inspiration.
