William Ronald Bourque, age 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 9, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. “Ron” was born on December 30, 1947 in Beaumont, Texas, and later attended Giles Elementary School, MacArthur Junior High and South Park High School, from which he graduated in 1966. He was a standout athlete and earned six varsity letters as a receiver in football and a hurdler in track. Ron played on three undefeated football teams at MacArthur and was an all-star infielder in Little League and Pony League.
Ron graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Business Arts degree and entered the management program with Steak & Ale Restaurant Corporation. Within three years, Ron was recruited to work in Houston, Texas, by General Leisure Corporation, which operated numerous Gallagher Steakhouses, Mason Jar Restaurants, Longhorn Steakhouses, and the Lancaster Hotel. Ron went on to become the Vice President of Real Estate and Construction, overseeing the construction and remodeling of multiple restaurants and hospitality concepts statewide. He earned a reputation for hard work and integrity.
In 1987, Ron founded Nexus Construction, a specialty general contractor business which specialized in metal buildings and interior build outs. Under his leadership as president, the company built numerous successful projects in Houston and the surrounding area. After 25 years of successful operation, Ron sold Nexus Construction and purchased a 7.5-acre ranch in Brenham, Texas.
Ron loved animals especially his dogs and had a passion for restoring old model cars and motorcycles. His beloved ranch provided the perfect setting to pursue hobbies during his retirement, and he often hosted family and friends for visits. Ron cared for his cow and calf operation and spent time restoring and showing his muscle cars and motorcycles. He will be dearly missed by each and every person whose life he touched.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence “Cooney” Bourque and Lillian Smith Bourque and his sister Paula Bourque Stringer Maedgen. He is survived by his nephew Mark Stringer and wife Jennifer and their children Dylan and Sarah of Houston, cousins Joyce and John Allen of Deer Park, Glenn and Karen Smith of The Woodlands, Carol Haley of Houston, Laura Smith of The Woodlands, and David and Marion Smith of King, North Carolina.
