

Andrew was born on January 15, 1919 to André and Berthe Richárd in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The family moved to Maywood, New Jersey when Andrew was four years old. Andrew married Dorothy Walsh in 1942. He entered the U.S. Army in the same year. Andrew was stationed in Europe during World War II until the end of 1945. He was a member of the 17th Airborne Division. He played the trumpet in the Army Band. After returning from the war, Andrew returned to Teaneck, New Jersey to be with his wife Dorothy and son John. Andrew had several jobs while he attended the RCA Institute. He worked for NBC and a relative’s Tool and Die factory during this time. Eventually, Andrew went to work for the Bendix Corporation. Andrew and Dorothy’s family grew to include Jack, Roberta and Yvonne. The family moved with Bendix to Bellevue, Washington in 1960 and then to Palos Verdes, California in 1970. Andrew retired from Bendix in 1980. He and Dorothy moved to Palm Desert, California where they lived until 2003. Then they moved to Beaverton, Oregon to be closer to family. Andrew was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, VFW, Elks, American Legion and National Association of Broadcasting. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Bellevue, Washington and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Palm Desert, California. Andrew liked to golf, fish, read, cook, entertain and spend time with his family. Andrew passed away on December 8, 2013 in Portland, Oregon. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dotty, of sixty eight years. Andrew is survived by son, Jack (Christine), daughters, Roberta (Patrick) and Yvonne. He has nine grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will be held starting at 10:45 am on Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Maryville Nursing Home Chapel. A Private Family Rite of Committal will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Maryville Nursing Home.
