In 1939, Arlie married Nadine Callaway in Ontario, Oregon.
Arlie served in the Navy for 4 years during World War II.
He was a building contractor in Hermiston, Oregon until his retirement when they moved to Beaverton to be near their children and grandchildren.
Arlie spent his free time in Hermiston hunting, fishing and gardening. After he retired he was into recycling, before recycling was cool. He taught his children never to waste anything or litter the earth with waste.
He will be greatly missed by his girls who have remained very close to him since the death of his wife, Nadine. Our parents set a good example, being married since 1939, living through the Great Depression and always loving each other. They were very much loved and we will miss them every day. THEY ARE FINALLY TOGETHER.
Survivors include his daughters, Sharon Huston of Beaverton; Arlene Opoka of Beaverton and Denise Smith of Hillsboro; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
At his request no service will be held. Private inurnment will be in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon.
Arrangements under the direction of Pegg, Paxson & Springer Funeral Chapel, Beaverton, OR.
