

Barbara, or Bunny, as many people knew her was born in Denver and soon adopted by Stanley and Edith Frederick. When she was still an infant, they moved to Portland, where she grew up and graduated from Franklin High School, and later attended Lewis and Clark College.
To be patriotic and supportive of servicemen during World War 2, she wrote to a soldier overseas. Through those letters they fell in love. Barbara married the love of her life, Mark Calder, in June of 1946. They remained together until his death in 1999. They lived in Lake Oswego as their 3 children grew up. They later moved to Beaverton where she lived until her death.
Barbara loved children and worked for many years in the Lake Oswego schools as a secretary. She and Mark also hosted several foreign exchange students. In her later years she held church youth group meetings at her home. She also worked for the Army Corps of Engineers and the Internal Revenue Service in the personnel and training divisions.
Barbara is survived by her 3 children, Mark W (Bill) Calder of Happy Valley, OR, C. Stanley Calder of Coeur d’ Alene, ID., Judith Ann Lindeman of Myrtle Point, OR, Six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
