She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, George Rummell (2011). She is survived by her children Beverly Maneatis (Thomas), David Rummell (Tram), Nancy Pulito (Joseph), 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Betty was known as “Nana” to everyone and was the center of family functions. She always had a story to tell or a listening ear, and happiness always filled the room when Nana was there. Everyone looked forward to her famous birthday cakes, her laughter at silly jokes, and her uncanny ability to always make you feel special and loved.
Her winning smile and wit also endeared her to a wide circle of friends, including neighbors, friends from church, and many she met during worldwide travels with her husband. She maintained friendships with many throughout the world through cards and letters over the years and enjoyed writing them as much as she did receiving them. Her kind heart, generosity, and goodness brought smiles to everyone near and far.
In addition to her joyful spirit, Nana was meticulous in every task she applied herself to and resilient in the face of difficulty and hardship. She persevered in her last weeks with courage and fortitude, and now our “Nana” is greatly missed by everyone.
There will be a private family service at St. Bart’s Episcopal Church Memorial Garden. Friends are invited to her “Celebration of Life” on Sunday, February 23rd. Please contact Nancy Pulito (daughter) for details.
