David was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Oregon. He was born and raised and spent the majority of his life in Hillsboro, with just a little over a decade living in Cornelius.
From 1966 to 1969, David served in the US Army, attaining the rank of sergeant. He spent over 18 months overseas, primarily in Okinawa, with excursions to Vietnam and South Korea. He served as a supply chief for most of his army career, but was also trained as an infantryman and parachutist.
After his military service, David worked as a police officer for many years in Cornelius and Gaston, and eventually moved into the tech industry. During his technical career, David worked at Tektronix, Fujitsu, Planar, and Rodgers Instruments Corporation, primarily as an engineering and document change control manager.
David loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman, and spent as much time as possible out in the woods camping with friends and family. He enjoyed tinkering with computers and helping others navigate technical problems. In his younger years he enjoyed diving and baseball, and later became an avid bowler on the family bowling team.
David is survived by his wife Barbara, his brother Michael, his sons David, Brian and Andrew and their spouses, and ten grandchildren.
A celebration of life open house will be held on Saturday, September 20th from 1-4 PM at the Jackson School House, 450 NE Harewood St, Hillsboro, OR 97124. Light refreshments will be served, and everyone is welcome to come join us in honoring his memory. David will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery with military honors, but due to space constraints the ceremony will be limited to immediate family only.
