Eunice Marie “Willie”, was born on April 9, 1919 in Portis, Kansas, to Lon and Margaret Love, the youngest of six children. Willie and Von met while in high school and were married August 12, 1939 at the Osborne County Courthouse; a movie at the local theater was their “honeymoon”.
Willie and Von had two daughters, Sherral and Lynda, before moving to Beaverton, in 1948. Willie worked at the Beaverton Branch of US Bank for over 25 years, until her retirement in April, 1981.
During their retirement, Willie and Von traveled in their motor home to fish and camp throughout Oregon, as well as visiting family and friends in other parts of the US. They hosted numerous family holidays, birthday celebrations, and sports viewing parties supplying vast quantities of great food including Willie’s home canned fruits and pies. Along with cooking, canning and baking she also became an accomplished quilter, providing heirloom quality pieces for her children and grandchildren.
Von preceded Willie in death in May 2003. Willie enjoyed good health for most of her long life, but after a short period on hospice care, Willie died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday July 23, 2014 at age 95. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Sherral and Bill Turner, daughter Lynda Barnes as well as her sister-in-law Billie Wolovich. Grandchildren include: Tracy (Glenn) Fritts, David (Jeanne) Turner, Trish (Bill Hirai) Barnes, and Mathew (JJ) Turner. She is also survived by her Great-grandchildren: Cameron, Jared, Nathan, Carson, Violet, Daniel, Kunie Lyn and James. Her son-in-law, John Barnes, Jr. also preceded her in death as well as her five siblings.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life at 11:00 AM on August 23, 2014 at Pegg, Paxson and Springer Funeral Chapel in Beaverton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hopewell House Hospice.
