Flora Elizabeth (Betty) Christensen passed away on May 12, 2015, at age 83. Betty was born to Jesse and Wilhelmina Cox, in Milwaukee, OR, on Oct. 16, 1931. She grew up in Oregon City, and graduated from Oregon City High School. Betty’s first husband, George Jeli, died in 1958. Betty married Don Christensen in 1959, and they were happily married until Don’s death in 1994.
Preceding her in death are husband Don; sons Donnie and Steve; brothers Bill, Jim, and David; sister Virginia; and grandson Tory.
Survivors include children Phyllis & Ken Cooper, Bob & Teresa Christensen, Linda & Mike Lacey, Bill Christensen, Sandi & Randy Miller, and Debbie Christensen; brothers Don and Andy Cox; and sister Dorothy Haynie. Betty had 14 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, as well as an “extended family” of relatives and friends too numerous to list.
Betty will always be remembered for her sense of humor, the loving care she provided to all of her family and those she helped raise through daycare, as well as her legendary cookie baking.
Betty was laid to rest beside her loving husband Don at Valley Memorial Park.
