Gary Norman Westfall, 73, passed away July 16, 2015 after a brief illness. Born April 24, 1942 in Omaha, Neb. to the late Dr. Ralph N. Westfall and Marjorie L. Westfall, Chief Petty Officer Gary was very proud of his 20-year Navy career. In addition to destroyer duty his service included stations at Pensacola; San Diego; Vallejo, Calif.; Adak, Alaska; Bremerhaven, Germany; and Guam. An avid ham radio operator, Gary was also handy with computers and had for several years worked as a PBX operator at St. Vincent's Hospital. In his younger days he was also active in folk dancing and had kept in touch with that community.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Kerry Maroe, of Mesa, Ariz., his son Richard Westfall, brothers Donald, Bruce, Gail, and sister Beverly Betzer. Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery Monday, Aug. 3 at 9 a.m.
