

Geraldine "Gerry" Joan Johnson Ray, 83, of Beaverton, Oregon, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015. She was born in Springbrook Township, Minnesota on August 3, 1931. She attended a one room schoolhouse through eighth grade and graduated from Karlstad High School. Gerry received a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education with a minor in music from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. She was married to Dale A. Ray on August 18, 1956. She taught fourth and sixth grades in Moorhead, was a homemaker for many years, and returned to the workforce in the 1980s. She sold art for Transart Inc., was an assistant manager at Wall Inc., a designer's wholesale wall covering business, and was a Realtor at Lutz-Snyder and Oregon First realty companies. She held the office of state secretary for Women's Ministries with the Oregon District of the Assemblies of God. Gerry was a member of Portland Christian Center since 1976, where she served several years as the women's ministries director, and was a member of the choir for 25 years. Her interests were her grandchildren, children, and extended family and friends, as well as decorating, travel, and church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale Ray, two infant twin grandchildren Christopher and Brandon, and several siblings. She is survived by her daughter Lindsey Ray, Beaverton Oregon, her son Les Ray and his wife Kelly, Cocoa Florida, and son Blaine Ray and his wife Jane, Beaverton Oregon, grandchildren Tim Ray, Kristen Ray, Breanna Ray, and Sarah Ray, as well as siblings Fern Strandquist, Lloyd Johnson, and Leroy Johnson, and more than 100 nieces, nephews, and their families. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11 AM at Portland Christian Center.
