

Helen Jean Kerr Fredrickson was born January 3rd, 1926, in Steubenville, OH, to William and Helen Palmer Kerr. She was their first child, followed by Barbara Mae, 20 months later. Jean was baptized in the First Presbyterian Church in Steubenville, OH. She attended 12 years of school in Steubenville, graduating in 1943.
Jean traveled to California upon graduation, living and working briefly in Los Angeles before moving to Stockton, CA, where she worked as a telephone operator for several years. She then moved to Redondo Beach, CA, where she worked for a lumber company. There she met George Fredrickson. They were married in November 1964. They moved to Longview, WA, where they lived for 7 years. Jean was a homemaker and stepmother to George’s children.
Jean and George moved to Beaverton, OR, in 1971. Jean worked at the Pendleton Woolen Mills corporate office in Portland, which she retired from after 20 years of employment. During this time, she and George divorced.
Jean joined St Andrew Lutheran Church, in 1971. She became very involved with singing in the choir, counting offering money for 10 years, council member, quilting, knitting prayer shawls, usher, greeter, driving friends to church and appointments, and working on church anniversary celebrations. She served on various committees including stewardship, witness, chancel and tapestry design, nursery, WELCA retreats, finance, and property. After many years of serving the Lord at St Andrew and remaining a faithful member, she now rests from her toils.
Surviving Jean are 2 half sisters, a half brother, a nephew, a great niece, a great nephew, and numerous second cousins, all living on the East Coast. Jean also leaves great friends from her many walks of life over numerous years.
Preceding Jean in death are her parents, 1 sister, and multiple cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, Aug 15th at 2PM, at St Andrew Lutheran Church (12405 SW Butner Rd Beaverton, OR 97005).
Jean will be laid to rest in the family plot in Union Cemetery, [Established 1854] in Steubenville, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St Andrew Lutheran Church Foundation.
