September 29, 1923 – July 11, 2022
Helen lived her early life in communities in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. In 1941 she entered Willamette University, where she earned a degree in Fine Arts. Following graduation she lived in several cities before settling in Beaverton, Oregon, where she worked as a graphic artist for ESI, an electronics company. She remained with ESI until her retirement.
Helen was active in community groups, including church, MS support, quilting, and swimming. She was a gifted crafts artist. Family and friends looked forward to her intricately designed and carefully constructed birthday and holiday cards. She made and donated small quilts, hoping that each at some point would be trailed along the floor by a two-year-old.
Helen enjoyed travel and made several trips to Pacific lands, including the Philippines and Australia. She was an avid swimmer and regularly visited Hawaii, where she swam several times a day among the local sea life.
Helen will be missed by her friends and family, particularly by her many nieces and nephews, who lovingly knew her as Auntie Helen.
