Henry Hadloc Ruiz October 24, 1954 - September 16, 2020
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that the family of Henry Hadloc Ruiz, of Beaverton, announce his passing on September 16, 2020. He was 65.
Henry was born on October 24, 1954, in Santa Lucia, Philippines, to Benjamin and Epifinia Ruiz. He married Belen Jalos on June 18, 1983.
As a graduate of the Philippine Maritime Institute, Henry traveled the seas as a merchant marine, which brought him to the United States. He eventually took up residence in Oregon. From then, and until his retirement in 2016, he worked for Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack. During his 30-plus years with the company, Henry earned multiple recognitions, including being named employee of the year several times.
An avid angler and crabber, Henry enjoyed spending his time fishing the various bodies of water surrounding his home. Even if he was unsuccessful at procuring a catch, Henry would often remark that he found peace instead.
Along with his wife Belen, Henry is survived by his daughter Piper (Nathan) of Portland; two sons, A.J. (Allison) of Beaverton and Bryant (Emily) of Astoria; as well as his grandchildren, Kaitlyn and an expected grandson. He will also be remembered by his brother, Edwin; his sisters Grace, Agnes, and Curie; as well as his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Small services with immediate family will be conducted during the week of September 20, 2020. However, a larger celebration of life and memorial service will be conducted sometime in the future when it will be safe to do so. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
