Jack enlisted in the Army on October 3, 1946 and was honorably discharged on January 12, 1948. After serving his country he married the love of his life, Edna (Brandt) Wiley on October 8, 1948. They had 3 children: Patricia “Patsy” (Bob), Gary (Nancy) and Larry (Robin). Together they proudly became business owners by operating a Grocery Outlet location.
This past fall Jack and Edna celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage. They are blessed with 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
He lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; gardening, hiking, camping and being a scout leader. He was a devoted member of his church, First United Methodist Church of Beaverton, and spent many years volunteering as an usher.
Our father was thoughtful and kind. He loved all his family and enjoyed our family get-togethers. He instilled in us a love of God, family and our country. He led us through his example. We love him for the man he was and thank God for him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joy McGuire, father, Archael Wiley, step-dad, Lawrence McGuire, and sister, Renee Hayes. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Edna Wiley, his children, Patricia Barnett of Beaverton, OR, Gary Wiley, of Walla Walla, WA, and Larry Wiley of Oregon City, OR. He also is survived by a brother, Jimmie Wiley, of El Cajon, CA and sister, Bobbie Jean Detrick of Summerville, SC.
Dad will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon on Tuesday, July 16, 2019.
