Lawrence J. “Jake” Jacobsen, 82 of Beaverton, Oregon passed away peacefully July 13, 2014. Jake was born September 14, 1931 to Rich and Faye Jacobsen of Chinook, Montana. He graduated from Chinook High School, spent 4 years in the Navy and then graduated from Pacific University with a B.S. in Education. While at Pacific he met and married his wife of 49 years, Patricia “Pat” Lockett Jacobsen and they lived in Waldport, Oregon where Jake and Pat began their teaching careers. They later moved to Beaverton where Jake was employed by the Beaverton School District as a teacher, vice principal and an administrator. He retired from Beaverton as the Director of Transportations and Food Services in 1988.
Jake liked to read, camp, golf and especially loved sports of all kinds, most of all The Portland Trailblazers and was season ticket holder for many years. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards and spending time with his family including numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He especially loved time with his grandchildren.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Rich and Faye, along with his wife, Pat.
He is survived by his brothers, Dick Jacobsen of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Jim Jacobsen of Helena, Montana; daughter and son-in-law, Debbi and Tillman Stone of Hillsboro, Oregon; his son Doug Jacobsen along with Rhonda Jacobsen; his granddaughters Erin Cook and her husband Kris, Kate Huth and her husband Chris, and Stephanie Jacobsen as well as 2 great-granddaughters.
Open visitation will be help July 24th from noon until 8:00 pm at Pegg, Paxson and Springer Funeral Chapel in Beaverton. A celebration of life will be held on July 25th at 11:00 am at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, 12250 SW 5th Street, Beaverton followed by a luncheon reception at the Beaverton Elks Lodge, 3500 SW 104th Ave, Beaverton. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Cecilia’s Parish or to the Lawrence J. Jacobsen Scholarship Memorial at the Beaverton Elks Lodge.
