Dear Marlene and family, what sweet memories I have of Mac at Northwestern College back at Loring Park. We thought he had a mobile phone in his shoe (before they even existed)!!! Singing in the "Sounds of Joy" (with the "Sounds of Woe" as a close competitor!) was such fun. Praying for the Lord's comfort and peace for you, and praising God for the promise of Heaven, when we'll see our dear loved ones again. Lovingly, Joyce (and Roger) Henry

Well, I knew Mac and his siblings many years ago back in Minnesota. I sang in his choir at Crystal Free Church . I also recall playing a little basketball with Mac back than. I also went to Northwestern  College when it was located near Loring Park in downtown Minneapolis; another commonality with Mac. Marlene, my sympathies! 😞😞 Mac was a good man, A Man of God. 

The morning I heard of Mac's passing; my first thought was "there's a new trumpet in heaven!" Although we only knew Mac in later life, we were grateful for his friendship and his Monday morning humor at our breakfast gatherings. As others have mentioned, Mac was a consummate salesman to the end, often telling us of his new endeavors that I'm sure added to his life. 

Mac will be missed by many ... 

We met Mac & Marlene through Beaverton Christian Church . Ed discovered that he and Mac & Marlene had all attended Northwestern College in Minn. at the same time, which they loved to reminisce about.  Through the church & Ed's class we enjoyed several senior outings and beach trips, along with the Wallaces.  Ed & I also had many fun chili and cards nights at their home, where the boys always cleaned our clocks.   We love you Mac and Marlene, and we will miss Mac so very much.

Mac was a gentle and thoughtful man, kind friend, who always shared a positive spirit and an encouraging word.  The smile on his face said it all.  His trumpet was an extension of his heart whether he soloed, accompanied a choir or orchestra or belted out a patriotic anthem.  We were privileged to call him friend.  

We are so sorry to hear this about Mac. I have memories from college and then from some of our trips to Oregon. I remember his positive outlook and the smile on his face. Our prayers  are with Marlene and the family and send our love.

Mac was such a positive person. Chuck was talking wit him at First Church and all  of a  sudden his pants slipped to his knees. He at that time had lost a lot of weight.  He pulled his pants up laughed and kept talking.   Never missed a beat.   He was always the energetic bunny.  He will be missed.    Chuck and Judy Price

Dear Marlene, Brad and the rest of the family,
I am very sorry for your loss. To me Mac was a bigger than life person. I know how much he loved you all. Family was everything to him.
I met Mac 20 years ago at a business Luncheon. We instantly made a connection. Mac became a friend and mentor over the years. We both have Minnesota connections and every year we had high hope for our beloved Minnesota Vikings. 
I will miss our meetings just to catch up on life. Lunch or morning coffee was our go too. We often talked sports & business, but his love for Marlene and family always came through. He was so proud of all his kids, grand kids and even mentioned great grand kids. He often shared their accomplishments and neat things they were up to. 
Above all Mac was just a positive person and a positive influence on my life. I will miss him and his texts during Vikings games 😃. I know he will be smiling down from above when they finally win the big game. 



MAC was a great Friend to many--we felt Blessed to know him.  MAC was a Leader and teamed up with Marlene, they truly Maximized their Efforts  and Mission and had Accomplishments!   MAC was a Talented Trumpet player --we enjoyed his Masterpieces!  MAC was truly a good church singer! MAC had Leadership abilities and used his gifting wisely.  He was Strong in his Faith, loved and served his Family, Church, & Community!
Mac loved going to coffee in hopes of sharing his Faith.  MAC  had Endurance and was an Encourager!  He had Peace from God and his smile reflected that.  He lived his Life with Purpose.

Mac never knew a stranger. The warmth of his smile and handshake made everyone he met instantly a friend. The love and care he had for his family is legendary, they were always just a phone call away. 



Mac loved sports.  I remember him winning running races when he was a heavy set 12 year old.  Mac would have played football, but Dad wouldn't let him.  However, he played baseball and basketball.  In 1957 he almost helped lead 607 population Lyle to the Minnesota State Tournament, losing to Mayo's Rochester by only one point.

Mac  positively loved sales and people.  Although he majored in music and played the trumpet very well, his passion was people and sales.  He was often on the telephone pursuing some opportunity.  20 plus years ago, I was using my Visa card in Virginia when the clerk asked me if I knew Mac Soderquist.  When he found out that Mac was my brother, he shared that during his training period with Mac, he never saw Mac lose a sale.

Mac was the most positive person I have known.  He was kind & protective of me his younger brother.  While I already miss him, I’m certain he will welcome me to heaven and suggest we both eat our favorite foods while we enjoy great music.

Mac was a great friend and fellow Minnesotan. Loved working with him in the Music Department of Portland First and then Nexus Church of the Nazarene. Loved sharing the stories of our times in Music Ministry. While he will be missed here, I know he is having the time of his life now! See you soon Mac!
