

Mary Joy Kirsch passed away March 9, 2014 of causes related to Alzheimers. She is survived by her husband Walter Kirsch, a retired dentist, in Beaverton; two daughters, Nancy Kirsch of Portland and Laurie Quirk of Anacortes, WA, and two grandsons, Adam Nelson and Matthew Johnson.
Mary Joy Ham was born July 10, 1927 in Cranbrook, British Columbia to Arthur and Elsie Ham. She grew up in the small town of Silverton, BC, a town of about 200 people. Her mother was Canadian and her father American. She attended the University of Oregon, where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and was President her senior year. Joy met Walt in typing class their Freshman year. Joy and Walt were married 63 years. She enjoyed her bridge clubs, gardening, tennis, golf, and their wonderful cabin on Lake Merwin for 30 years. The beautiful lake surrounded by a rustic landscape was similar to her home in British Columbia.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Hearthstone of Murrayhill, 10880 SW Davies Road in Beaverton, on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 2-4 PM. Joy and Walt have lived at Hearthstone for the last three years. Remembrances to Alzheimers Association.
