Born on July 15, 1926, Nan was raised in Hood River, Oregon where her love of the great outdoors was nurtured. Throughout her life, Nan enjoyed camping, hiking, skiing, swimming, and tending her roses. She shared these activities with her family, especially in and around Mt. Hood and the Columbia River, and took special delight in supporting and participating in Scouting activities with her husband Ed.
Nan was dedicated to her family as the children were growing up in Salem, Oregon and Beaverton, Oregon. She had a wonderful career in later life as an Administrative Assistant at OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry). She delighted in watching her grandchildren grow up, sharing in their many life transitions, and meeting her great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Frank Hoerlein and Mildred Cushing Hoerlein; her beloved husband, Edward J. Harris; and her great-granddaughter Emerson Ruth Fridley Harris.
She is survived by her brother, Paul Hoerlein of Bellevue, WA; her five children: Julie Nan Harris of Martinsburg, WV; Scott Edward Harris (Carol) of Nashville, TN; Brent Hampton Harris (Stacy) of Santa Fe, NM; Bradley Kent Harris (Sue) of Tigard, OR, and John Allen Harris of Gresham, OR; four grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
