Oscar Sakamoto passed away in his sleep early on the morning of June 24, 2011.
Oscar was born November 13, 1918 in Waialua, O'ahu, Territory of Hawai'i to Hina Shigata & Mitsuhiro Sakamoto.
He was the youngest of five children having two brothers, Chisato and Lincoln, both deceased and two sisters, Dorothy and Doris, both deceased.
Oscar served in the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion in WWII from May1943 to January 1946 as a High Speed Radio Operator.
He worked as a machinist at the General Forging & Machine Company, a family-owned business.
Married Michiko Yamamoto (deceased) on December 14, 1952. They had four children, one son, Gregg, deceased.
He is survived by daughter Emi Jean and her husband James Sakamoto Sanderson, daughter Becky and husband Erwin Hudson and his son Eric. He also has two grandchildren, Vireak Sakamoto Sanderson and Kayla Hudson.
Graveside service will be Friday, July 1, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon
