in 4 branches of the military in a single week, finally settling in with the Marine Corps. While serving, he played baseball for The Marine Corps team and USAF team as well as boxed on the USMC boxing team.
Bob moved to California after being discharged from the service. There he met, and married Norma J. Fortin. They were married in Oct 1959, until her death
in June 2000. They raised their children in California until they moved to Portland Or in 1966. He worked for Bekins, P.M.T and various other private companies
His boxing career took off in 1977, where he promoted his first professional fight. Sometime after he began the 'Tough Guy Fights', and started
CAM Boxing. Thru CAM, he promoted various fights, as well as match making for title fights around the world. He was a licensed 'Corner Man' in too many
states to count. He was highly regarded in the boxing world. He was amongst the 3 original members of the Northwest Boxing Hall of Fame.
A lifelong Green Bay Packer's fan, and a Chicago Cubs fan from childhood on, sports always played a big part of his life. He signed a contract to pitch for the Milwaukee Braves before injury ended hopes of a professional career. He loved Horse Racing, baseball, football and above all Boxing. It was is unfulfilled dream to promote a fight in support of the Vetrans around the world who served their country. He was very proud of his military service and those who put their life on the line for ours.
A devoted family man, he worked hard to raise his kids, and reaped the benefits of watching them grow up to raise their own children. He will be remembered
as a man who loved a practical joke and a good laugh.
He is survived by his Children Jeff & Sharee Oleson, Laura Oleson, Janine Oleson, David & Diane Oleson, Gina & Casey Amato. Grand children Mike Nazir, Rachel & Chrissy Wintgen, Geoff & David Oleson, Kennedy, Sydney & Aubrey Oleson and Violet Amato.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 12 noon appropriately at the TeamQuest Gym. 20110 SW 112th Ave
Tualatin Or 97206. Burial will be a private family service on a later date.
