Sharon Kaye Irving (Sky) was born in Denver, Colorado on September 26, 1956 to Ramona Irving. Sharon was the middle child in a family of three daughters. Her childhood years were spent in Rich- land, WA. Sharon worked at Ballie's Memorial Boys Ranch in Franklin County, at a local medical facility as an X-ray Technician, and at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Washington as a Switchboard Operator, a Billing Clerk, and an Emergency Room CNA. Sharon also worked at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Pasco, WA as a Switchboard Operator.
Sharon was always eager to learn new skills. She eventually moved to the Portland area where she became employed at Oregon Health & Science University first as a Call Center Agent, then as an Administrative Assistant and a Computer User Support Analyst. OSHU became the third hospital that she worked for. In 2009, 18 years later, Sharon applied and got position of Administrative Coordinator in the Telecom Wireless Services unit of the Information Technology Group. Sharon liked to work in busy environments and—as she wrote in her application for the AC position—was known to say “if there are lots of reqs in the queue or work orders in queue, I like to see how fast I can get them done. I think of myself as being dependable, dedicated and self- motivated.” That work ethic was taught to Sharon by her mother.
Sharon used her morals, work ethic and godly values in whatever she did. She was always reading and loved to share what she read and that was especially true in her belief in God. She often would challenge you on your beliefs.
Sharon also loved to sing and write songs. She was able to use that singing talent as a member of the Portland Peace Choir. She loved watching Jane Austen movies. She would have movie marathons and stay up late watching a series of movies until early in the mornings on weekends. She liked to take road trips, which was a past time she also inherited from her Mom. On childhood road trips, her favorite candy was always malted milk balls.
Sharon was 57 when she passed from this world into the arms of her beloved Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her Mom, Ramona Fox Irving Tompkins, and younger sister, Toni Irving. Sharon leaves behind her sister Shirley Garza and brother-in-law Phil Garza.
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
