Theresa Ann Gilbert, 80, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025 in Beaverton, Oregon. She was born on January 29, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Walter Lee Schmalstieg, Sr. and Viola Mary (Syring) Schmalstieg.
Theresa was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid gardener and loved fishing and the outdoors. In her later years, she loved to swim, color flowers, and visit with her loved ones in person and by phone and video. Theresa's love of God and her dedication to her Catholic faith was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Theresa is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gary Gilbert , and her children Peter, Jason, and Mariann, her 10 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter as well as her brother, Walter Lee Schmalstieg, Jr.
Theresa was predeceased by her son and namesake, Terry.
The funeral will be held in Lubbock, TX at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. A private interment will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock at a later date.
