Charles Edward Carroll

70, passed away on March 27, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at his side. He was born on December 30, 1942 to Bernice (Duckett) Carroll and Charles Carroll in Beech Grove, IN. He graduated in 1961 from Southport High School in Indianapolis, IN. He worked at Indianapolis Welding Supply before retiring at Refractory Engineers in 1987. In 1994, he was blessed with his first heart transplant. In 1998, he received another heart transplant along with a kidney transplant. Then in 2001, he received a second kidney transplant. Along the way was a difficult journey of many health battles, but he traveled this journey with a smile on his face and a concern for his family that he loved so dearly over himself. He was admired by many, an example for all, and considered a walking miracle by those who knew of him. The last two years were the hardest of all, but he always kept a positive attitude. He lived each day as if it were his last, and taught his family to live in this way. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 42 years, Joni (Roberts) Carroll, his daughters Kelly Jo Self, Lauri Carroll, Jennifer Lewis (Jeff), Carla Hill, his son Dan Carroll (Ashley), his eight grandchildren Abby Lewis, Katelyn Lewis, Grace Lewis, Ava Lewis, Alex Hill, Alivia Hill, David Hill, Nathan Carroll, his sisters Juanita Mann (Dick), Wanda Lowe (Ted), and many extended family members. The family would like to express many thanks to all of the physicians and staff who cared for Chuck through the years. They ask that any donations be made to Indiana Organ Procurement Organization in Chuck’s memory so that other families might also receive an amazing second chance of the gift of life. The family would also like to express their warmest appreciation and thanks to Seasons Hospice for their care and support of Chuck and his family during his final journey.

Visitation will be held Monday April 1st from 3:00-8:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home Beech Grove Chapel. A Prayer Service will be held Monday April 1st at 6:30 PM in the Funeral Home.
