Obituary of Charlie Mathew Stout
Charlie Mathew Stout, 68, of Beech Grove, Indiana passed away on Saturday, May 25th, 2024. Charlie was born in Gallatin, Tennessee to the late Charles Marlin and Lorene Stout on October 12, 1955. His parents instilled in him the values of hard work and family devotion. After graduating from Beech Grove High School in 1974, he went on to begin his career spanning over 50 years starting at Cole National, followed by working alongside his dad at Zimmer Paper Products. He married his soulmate, longtime friend, and love, Darlene Stout, on April 15, 1978 and shortly after he began his lifelong career at Amtrak. Charlie dedicated 46 years of his life to working at Amtrak, where he made a lasting impact and formed lifelong friendships with his colleagues. In the meantime, he continued working a second part-time job for 48 years either at Cole National, Sears, or Kroger. His unwavering commitment and strong work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of all those who had the pleasure of working alongside him. Charlie was known for his expertise, encouragement, and dedication to his fellow railroaders. He will be remembered as a legend (aka “Mr. Amtrak”) for his contributions to Amtrak for years to come. Charlie was a devoted husband, father, and Pa. He cherished every moment spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren, creating countless memories that will be treasured forever. Charlie was a pillar of strength and support for his family, always there to lend a helping hand or offer words of wisdom. His unconditional love and unwavering presence will be deeply missed by his family. Charlie will be remembered for his warm smile, his compassionate heart, and his dedication to his family, faith, and profession. He leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and integrity that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Darlene Stout, their three children, April, Justin, and Kyle (Crystal) Stout, his grandchildren, Ethan and Peyton Stout, his brothers, Steve (Pandora), David (Karin), and Donald Stout, brother-in-law, nephews, and nieces. A public visitation for Charlie will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main St, Beech Grove, Indiana 46107. A funeral service will occur Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist of Beech Grove, 5521 Churchman Ave, Beech Grove, Indiana 46107. An interment will occur Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Washington Park East Cemetery, 10612 E Washington St, Indpls, IN 46229.
