Cheryl Smith

Cheryl Smith, age 71, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Friday, March 26th. She passed peacefully at home surrounded with love and prayers. Cheryl was born August 7, 1949 to the late Barbara A. (Wills) Cloncs and Millard E. Cloncs. Cheryl is survived by her husband, Wallace Smith; daughter, Erin Beckman (Brian); son, Eric Smith; brother, Michael Cloncs (Gerry); granddaughter, Sophia Miller; and grandson, Nicholas Beckman. Cheryl Smith was a loving mother, a cherished wife, and an extraordinary nurse. She knew from the age of 5 that her life’s calling was to serve others as a nurse. She spent 30 years working alongside a doctor she highly respected and put her heart and soul into serving her patients. Towards the end of her career, she worked in nursing homes ensuring that the patients were getting the respectful and dedicated help they deserved at the end of their lives. Cheryl had a radiant smile and a laugh that was unforgettable. Her and her husband Wally loved to travel to places that were historical and especially loved spending the winter months together on Jekyll Island. Cheryl and Wally have two children, Erin and Eric. Cheryl taught them the importance of a strong work ethic, to treat others with a loving heart and the power of the raised eyebrow. She loved taking her grandchildren, Sophia and Cole, to McCormick‘s Creek to explore the trails and enjoy the pool. Cheryl also looked forward to spending time with her baby brother, Mike. He brought a smile to her face even at the very end. There are so many memories and our hearts break to say goodbye. Her parents, Gene and Barbara, were so proud of their daughter and we know that they are now hugging their baby girl once more. We love you Cheryl, more than all the stars in the sky.
