

An amazing and selfless man, age 79, passed away Jan. 25, 2013. He was born in Beech Grove, IN. to the late Vincent and Alma (Hagerty) Kavanaugh. He was a lifelong resident of Beech Grove and loved his hometown where he was born at home on 20th and Cleveland Street.
Don was a brick layer for over 40 years and a member of Brick Layers Local #4. He was an active lifetime member of Holy Name Catholic Church and was Holy Name “Man of the Year” in 2008. He was so humbled by this award that he said he did not deserve it, he felt other’s had done more to deserve it. Don was also a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul; and very active in Beech Grove Little League, coaching for over 13 years and involved in the construction of the Diamonds on 9th Ave. Don was also inducted into the BG Little League Hall of Fame. Don was a member of the Beech Grove City Council for 4 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Helen Kavanaugh; children Karen (White) Kavanaugh, Kenny and Kevin Kavanaugh; grandchildren Jeremiah, Nathan and Hannah Mattingly, Leah (Mattingly) Batman; and Amber Kavanaugh; 6 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; brothers Howard, Leo and Tommy Kavanaugh; and sister Sr. Timothy Kavanaugh.
Don was preceded in death by his son Keith Kavanaugh, brother Carl Kavanaugh, and sister Dorothy Warner.
Visitation will be held Thursday Jan. 31st from 3:00-8:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home Beech Grove Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday Feb. 1st at Holy Name Catholic Church at 10:00 AM Burial Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Name Catholic Church. www.littleandsonsbeechgrove.com
