Donald was a man of many talents and always had a joke to share with friends and family. In his early years while in the Air Force he would travel to many places and serve in Vietnam. Donald was known for being brilliant and talented in the endeavors he would tackle but was humble, kind, and always loving to those he knew. Polykarp Kusch once said "I feel, sometimes, as the renaissance man must have felt in finding new riches at every point and in the certainty that unexplored areas of knowledge and experience await at every turn." Donald was always there for a helping hand in any endeavor but always had time for his wife and their long loving marriage for 40 years.
Donald is survived by his wife, Mary Stowers; brother-in-law Ray Green, sister-in-law Melba (Floyd) Booher, sister Brenda (Kurt) Stowers-Guldner and sister Phyllis (Charlie) Olson; nephew Tim (Peggy) Olson, nephew Robbie Olson, nephew Terry Booher, nephew David Booher and niece Becky Day.
