Edward D. "Bud" Hess Jr.

81, of Beech Grove, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011. He was born January 13, 1930 in Beech Grove to the late Edward and Lucille Hess. Bud was a 1948 graduate of Beech Grove High School, where he excelled at all major sports. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korea Conflict. Bud worked as a tool and die maker for over 40 years. He was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church, where he volunteered much of his time and taught Bible study. He also volunteered at the Methodist Home in Franklin repairing wheelchairs and was a coach with the Beech Grove Little League for over 20 years. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Rowena Hess; children, Edward Dean Hess III (Linda), David Wayne Hess (Vickie), Toni M. Hess, and Rebecca Caroline Hess; sisters, Charlotte Carroll and Mary Hess-Stegner; and his five cherished grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Roberts, and brother, John Hess. Visitation is Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main St., Beech Grove, IN 46107, where the funeral is Monday, October 31, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
