

He was preceded in death by his sister, Roseanne Atkinson and his brother, Philip Leo Early, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marylyn Early, his high school sweetheart and love of his life. Ed is also survived by 2 sisters, Agnes (Ame) Early and Terry Early Weigler and his children he called "The Magnificent Seven" - Cathy (Steve) Hodge, Larry (Barb) Early, Dennis (Cathy) Early, Monica (John) Striby, Michele (Dale) Emery, Mary (Rick) Moore, and Vince (Kelly) Early; 14 grandchildren (with 10 spouses) and 16 great grandchildren (so far).
Ed attended St Philip Neri Catholic grade school, St. Meinrad Seminary, and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1953. He joined the Army in 1954 and was stationed in Korea for two years. He began his career as a letter carrier in 1960, retiring in 1990. In retirement he served as chaplain for the Nalcrest American Legion Post 339 and enjoyed his Florida retirement family for 14 years. Ed and Marylyn moved back to Indianapolis in 2020 to be surrounded by the love of their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
During his life, Ed enjoyed many wonderful years with his family, friends, and co-workers, playing tennis, walking, bowling, and laughing. He was an avid Indy 500 fan, loved trivia, watching Jeopardy, and Notre Dame football.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Holy Name Catholic Church, 89 N. 17th Ave., Beech Grove, IN 46107. Services have been entrusted to Little & Sons Funeral Home - Beech Grove.
