

Gary James Harris, a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on February 15, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on February 17, 1944, Gary was known for his honesty, generosity, thoughtfulness, wisdom, and faithfulness.
Gary had a distinguished career, serving in the Army from 1968 to 1974, stationed at Fort Lewis. In the late 1970s, he began working with H&H Heating, where he became a co-owner and eventually retired in 2010. He was a graduate of Beech Grove High School in 1962 and Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio, and furthered his education at Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Paige Harding Harris, and his daughter, Melanie Oldham. He was a devoted grandfather to Rhonda Oldham, Ezra Oldham, and Eva Oldham. He was predeceased by his grandson, Isaac Oldham. Gary is also survived by his siblings, Ron (Sue) Harris, Marleah (Wally) Garrett, and Tim (Laurie) Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Loretta Harris, and his beloved dogs, Bertha, Shadow and Jackson.
A devoted Christian, he was a Sunday school teacher in his young adult life and played piano for the First Baptist Church in Beech Grove. He hosted numerous Bible study groups and remarkably copied the Bible by hand over the course of 15 years. Gary met the love of his life, Paige, at Panera Bread, a place he cherished. Gary had a passion for reading, playing the piano, and solving puzzles. He collected Petoskey stones and spent hours polishing them. He also enjoyed playing trains, loved the beach, and searching for shark teeth. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and never complaining.
A public visitation will be held at Little & Sons Funeral Home, located at 1301 Main St, Beech Grove, Indiana, on February 23, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral service. Gary will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, located at 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood with full Military Honors.
Gary James Harris will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
