Arle "Gene" Hunter, age 94, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. Gene was born October 29, 1927 in Gentryville, Indiana to the late Mayme Owings Hunter and Narl Hunter. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Hunter and son, Phil Hunter. Gene was a US Army veteran who served during WWII and was a member of the American Legion. He worked over 40 years for Farm Bureau Insurance, single handedly getting their commercial side running, and retired as Director of Underwriting. In his retirement he enjoyed cards and was a good golfer frequenting Sarah Shank Golf Course.
Gene is survived by his sons, Greg Hunter (Diana) and Dennis Hunter (Mary Ann); daughter, Patty Thomas (Tim); siblings, Joan Lampert (Dick) and Bob Hunter; grandchildren, Michelle Mulcahy (Mike), Angie Arnold (Chad), Julie Bevins (Joseph), Sherry Harvel, Rebecca Powers, Eric Daugherty, Robyn Simpson (Lance), and Kimberlee Johnson; 12 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, November 19th from 10am - 1pm at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main St. Beech Grove, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be Friday, November 19th at 1pm at the funeral home with burial to follow in New Bethel Cemetery, Wanamaker, Indiana.
