Gloria Jean (Wheeler) Finchum

Gloria Jean (Wheeler) Finchum, 78, of Indianapolis, Indiana, went to her heavenly home on Monday, January 18, 2021. Born August 16, 1942 in Raleigh, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Samuel and Edith Wheeler. Gloria was a member of Indian Creek Christian Church and a dedicated mother. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma. She made friends everywhere she went and enjoyed outings with her friends Aubrey, Shirley and Janice. She also enjoyed reading, chatting on the phone daily with her friends and sister, taking walks and eating ice cream with her granddogs, and listening to gospel music. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Richard Leo Finchum; her parents; and siblings, Constance, Ineta, Bob, Billy, Tommy and Donald. Gloria is survived by her daughters, Romilda Wise and Julie Finchum; son, Jonathan Finchum; grandchildren, Emily and Aaron; and sisters, June Romage, Ardena Pittman, Beth Chastain and Sandy Smith. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, neighbors and lifelong friends. A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main Street, Beech Grove, IN, with visitation preceding the service from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations be made to Leader Dogs for the Blind or The Hornet Pantry at Hornet Park Community Center in Beech Grove.
