

James A. Little, age 87, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025, peacefully with his beloved wife Vicki, his dog Auggie and friends and family at his bedside after a 17 year battle with Parkinsons Disease. He was born in Beech Grove, Indiana to the late Vernon and Alma Little.
Jim graduated from Beech Grove High School where he was very active: President of the Tri-Hi-Y, Beech Grove Historical Society and Letterman's Club. He played tackle on the football team and played on the 1954 undefeated football team and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 79. He served his country 6 years in the Army Indiana National Guard as a mess Sergeant. He is a graduate of Indiana Mortuary College and was a Funeral Director for over 50 years. He gave back to his profession where he was Past-President of the Indiana Funeral Directors Association, on the board of Indiana Funeral Directors Insurance, served 8 years on the Indiana State Board of Funeral and Cemetery Service, and was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association. He served on the Marion County Fair Board and 4 years on the Franklin Central School Board. He was a member of the Beech Grove Businessmen’s Association and Past President of the Beech Grove Promoters Club. He was a member of the Beech Grove Masonic Lodge #694 F & AM and Murat Temple for many years. He was a Board Member of The Beech Grove High School Alumni Association. He received the highest honor bestowed by the State of Indiana as a Sagamore of the Wabash.
Throughout his life he enjoyed cooking, traveling, camping, dancing, playing cards especially poker, fishing, golfing, bowling, going to casinos and tailgating at Indianapolis Colts and Indiana University games. He just enjoyed life, anything with his wife Vicki and his beloved dogs and his many friends and family.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, Vicki and beloved dog Auggie; daughter Laura Little; sister Kay Little Denning, in-laws, Wendi and Terry Galuska, Kipp and Stefanie Cain, niece Nicole Cain, Rob Cain, other nieces and nephews and many great friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved dog Brandi, son Keith Little, parents Vernon and Alma Little, brother Gordon Lee Little (Margaret), father and mother-in-law, William "Bill" and Doris Cain and Halford Denning.
A visitation for Jim will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main Street, Beech Grove, IN 46107. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with burial in Orchard Hill Cemetery, 9032 Southeastern Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46239. Military honors conducted by the US Army and the IMMHG.
