Jean Ann was born in Maxton, North Carolina, to Bernard Weber and Charlotte (Senges) Weber on November 23, 1943. She went to school at Beech Grove High School. She married Arthur Lewis Sims on October 23, 1963, in Beech Grove, Indiana, at the United Methodist Church. She graduated from cosmetology school in 1962. She worked as a cosmetologist, a McDonald’s trainer, in the Beech Grove School’s cafeterias, a secretary at the University of Indianapolis, and most importantly to her, a stay-at-home mom.
Jean Ann and Arthur met while they were on a double date, but not with each other. The double date did not work out, and in 1961, they began dating. She was involved in her daughter’s Brownies and Girl Scouts activities, as well as coaching their softball teams. She was also involved with the Beech Grove High School Band. She was well known for her wonderful baking and cooking, including her popular mac and cheese and her chocolate sheet cake. She loved working in her garden, and could make anything grow. But what she grew best and most often was love. There was nothing she loved more than having all of her family together, whether for birthdays, holidays, or just in general.
Jean Ann is preceded in death by her father, Bernard Weber, her mother, Charlotte (Senges) Weber, and her husband, Arthur Sims.
Jean Ann is survived by her three daughters, Lori (Sims) Sullivan and Aaron Sullivan, Amy (Sims) Stevenson and Michael Stevenson, Leslie (Sims) Biltz and Jeff Biltz; her seven grandchildren, Brandon Stevenson and his fiancée Allison Schoenfeld, Leeann Sullivan and Audrey Land, Max Stevenson, Lauren Sullivan, Nathan Stevenson, Allyson Biltz, and Andrew Biltz.
