We had a mutual kinship in that our roots are traced back to Bobrovec, Slovakia, a town where her grandparents were born and my parents also immigrated to the USA.
May God in His great mercy welcome her into eternity, where one day we will all be reunited.
Rest in peace Sister!!!

Her kind cheerfulness; her ability to befriend any and everyone, and her genuine joy in life are treasures I remember in Sr. Joan Marie. I extend my love and prayers to her family and to the community of Our Lady of Grace. I miss all of you!

I went to school with Joan at St. Simons in Chicago. My wife, Marilyn and I enjoyed a visit we made to Our Lady of Grace Monastery a few years ago. She showed us around and we will always remember her wonderful way of making you feel so welcome. She came to a reunion we had of our friends and she was so happy to see so many come. She will be missed!

A flower lives
when a flower blooms.
A flower never dies
when it brought happiness to a room.

May God bless you and all the happiness you brought to so many lives.

Sister Joan Marie,

May you rest, comfortable and disease free in God's eternal kingdom. May your happiness, love and "bright smile" be with all your family, friends and dear monastery sisters. It was our "gift" to know such a wonderful giving and caring woman. We are sure God is smiling, laughing and enjoying his newest "Angel."
We will miss you.

Deepest Sympathy,

Kathy Avery/ Hood
