John “Jack” Leroy Jenkins

80, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 26, 2017. Jack was a funny, loving and devoted man who spent much of his time on model cars and airplanes, working with antique cars, following NASCAR and all sorts of racing, and researching and learning about the Civil War. He spent many years working at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Nice Pac, and Speedrome. He was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and The President of AA Club East. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 20 years, Bonnie; his children, John (Karen) Jenkins, Erin (Jimmie) Gammon, and Cheryl Lewis; his stepchildren, Cherie Badders, Charlie Richerson, David Pyard and John Pyard; his brothers, David (Peggy) Alfano and Michael (Judy) Jenkins; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy, his sister, LeeAnn and his parents, John and Helen. Jack will also be missed by his precious dogs, Molly, Lily, and Victor. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 3pm until 7pm at Little and Sons Funeral Home in Beech Grove. Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at St. Peter Lutheran Church at 2525 E. 11th St, Indianapolis, IN 46201 with visitation preceding the services beginning at 9am. Interment at New Crown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Little and Sons Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses. A message of Condolence may be left at

As a Speedrome flagman, Jack said, "A good official always has a pen in his pocket". I am sure he is officially taking notes where ever he is. A good man.

Always called him Jack ! He came to my auctions many times over the years and always attended the Hoosier Auto Racing Fans Banquets. Was always a top bidder at the silent auctions at the banquet. He will be missed
