John David Sluss, age 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29th, 2022. John was born January 30, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana to David and Inez (Jeffries) Sluss.

John graduated from Park (Tudor) High School in 1966. He went on to Indiana University in Bloomington where he met fellow student and future wife, Margaret “Peggy” Pickard, also from Indianapolis. John and Peggy were married on March 29th, 1970 and were married until Peggy passed away last year.

John worked as a nuclear medicine tech at Schneck Memorial Hospital in Seymour, Indiana while studying at Indiana University.

He then went on to lead an oncology center in Bryan, Ohio before transitioning into retirement.

John was a life-long learner who especially loved to read. His extensive book collection covered a multitude of subjects and John could hold a conversation on almost anything. His knowledge was not limited to just reading, as his hobbies and interests were extensive as well. Photography, fly-fishing, guns, knives, coin & stamp collecting, cigars, guitars, history, and wood-working. John used to joke that his gunsmithing certificate hung on the wall next to his MBA.

John was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

A private ceremony for the family will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made in leu of flowers to John and Peggy’s favorite charity, Wheeler Mission, PO Box 3085, Indianapolis, IN 46206.
