Johnnie Hugh Harwood, age 87, longtime resident of Beech Grove, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Johnnie was born in Fountain Run, Kentucky the son of the late Ray and Nanny (Simmons) Harwood. He retired from Nabisco after 42 years and loved wood working.
Johnnie is survived by his wife of more than 66 years, Mary (Lewis) Harwood; daughters, Valerie Lynn Chaney and her husband William and Barbara Sue Ruano and her husband Jose; grandchildren; April Calhoun, Brian Joseph Conway, William Joseph Chaney and Alex Ruano; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Collin, Quentin, Gage, Faith, Kaden, Harlee and Liam; great-grandchildren, Miles and Riley; and brothers, Bobby Harwood and Daryl Harwood.
Funeral services for Johnnie will be held 12:00 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2024 at Southwood Baptist Church, 501 S. 4th Ave., Beech Grove, Indiana with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery in Wanamaker, Indiana.
