
Marjorie Lou Mc Phetridge George O’Hara, died peacefully in her sleep at the Franklin United Methodist Community shortly after 1:00AM Thursday November 17, 2011, ending her battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in Monroe County, Indiana March 7, 1917 her family moved to the Indianapolis area where Marge graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1935. She attended Normal College in Indianapolis and was an avid sports enthusiast all her life.
She married Harry L. George on May 17, 1946 and they operated George’s Food Mkt. until they moved to Greenwood, IN in 1957. She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church, Victory Missionary Baptist Church, Greenwood Baptist Church, and Woodland Baptist Church until they moved to Florida in 1979. Mr. George passed away in 1982.
Marge was a leader and volunteer in Girl Scouts with the Hoosier Capital Girl Scout Council for over 40 years and received their “THANKS” Badge honor in 1970. She was also a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Irvington Chapter and belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Marge married John Joseph O’Hara on September 15, 1984 and they continued living in Florida. Mr. O’Hara passed away in 2002. She moved in the Franklin United Methodist Community on Aug. 1, 2003.
Mrs. O’Hara is survived by three daughters; Betty Schultheis-Reece of Hackettstown, New Jersey, Patricia Linton-Pakala (John) of Mainland, Pa., and Janet Miller (George) of Connersville. Nine grandchildren; Cyndi Corbett (Chip) of France; Scott Schultheis (Allie) of Phoenix, Arizona; Jeff Schultheis (Jamie) of Pittsburg, Pa.; Stephen Schultheis of Ridgewood,, N.J.; Michael Delph (Colette) of California; Carrie Bonnet (Jeff) of Harleysville, Pa.; Cory Miler of Indianapolis, In., Sara Munchel (Michael) of Cambridge City, In.; Joanie Sullivan (Dennis) of Cambridge City, IN. and nine great grandchildren; Lauren and Tara Schultheis, Luke and Blake Schultheis, Madison Delph, Miranda, Olivia, and Jayson Bonnet, Aidan and Savannah Munchel, Carter Sullivan.
A celebration for family and friends, past and present, is planned for 10 AM Monday Nov. 21, 2011 at the Franklin United Methodist Chapel with interment at a later date
