Mike was a fireman's fireman, and the best officer I ever had or have known- and I've known some good ones. Farewell, Fitz, and condolences to his family.

Mike was a great influence in my life. Now that he has gone  the next storm in heaven will be Jesus' Saints beating the bench because Fitzgeralds Boys  have put the ball in the end zone again. His favorite words to us were "my grandmother can run faster than you". The only fire he couldn't put out was the one he put in your heart. Love to Peggy and the family. David Johnson.

Mike and I were in several classes at Marian College.  It has been over 45 years since I graduated and Mike is one of the few fellow students that I remember. I remember shooting the "bull" many times with him in the basement lounge in Marian Hall; where the "day hops" would hang out between classes. Sorry to learn of his passing.

It has been a long while since I have seen Mike. A friend from school days past. Always a spirited, kind person. My sympathy to all of the Fitzgerald Family. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers. Irish wakes are the best... RIP Mike.

Difficult to put into words the impact Mike has had on our lives.  He has been Bill's mentor, teacher, brother, and friend....his leadership, excellence, and influence on Bill when he first began his career in the fire department... he and his sons who together with us built our dream home many years ago....his loving and caring nature....his humor....his unapologetic and honest approach to every day life.......the lessons he taught us just simply by the way he lived his own life....these contributions to our lives are a part of who WE are today....  We are blessed to have known him and have him be in our lives....an extraordinary human being....a wonderful man....we will miss him and know we will see him again someday.  Bill & Mindy Rodgers

My condolences to Peggy and the family. Mike was a good man and will be missed . Mike was a leader and served his church and community well. The church front doors will remind us that Mike will always be with us. He was dedicated to see that St. Patrick's would be a thriving parish in the Fountain Square area. RIP!

To Michael's family:  I play the organ at 4:00 Mass on Saturdays at St. Patrick.  It was always so good to see Michael in the same pew each week.  I'd even get excited when his hair got a little long!  He was such a decent, kind and very loved man by the parishioners of St. Patrick.  May you all take comfort in knowing that Michael now sees the face of God as God took him home in gentle arms and his suffering has ended.
