Throughout her working life, Nancy served as a bookkeeper for several companies until her retirement, bringing steady diligence and quiet pride to the responsibilities entrusted to her. She also valued fellowship and service, as shown in her membership in the Phi Theta Delta Sorority, where she helped found the Xi Chapter and participation with the Indiana Historical Society.
Nancy believed in showing up for what matters. A committed advocate for voting, she worked the polls each year for her community. She remained actively involved with the Beech Grove Senior Citizens and was honored as a Senior Fall Festival Queen.
Those who knew Nancy will remember the warmth of her hospitality, especially in the simple, meaningful joy she took in hosting friends on “the Patio.” She cherished time spent camping with family and traveling with the Airstream, embracing the pleasures of togetherness and the open road. Her creativity also found a home in artistic endeavors, including painting and crafts, where patience and imagination could quietly flourish.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents: Francis and Barbara Utterback, her sons: Cort and Cris Chamberlain, and her second husband, Floyd Ellis.
She is survived by her partner, Daniel Beck; her daughter, Dee Adams, her sister, Lyn Wyand.
