Nicole "Nikki" Michelle Short

August 31, 1985May 22, 2020

Nicole “Nikki” Michelle Short, 34, of Beech Grove, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020. She was born on August 31, 1985 in Beech Grove to Robert “Bob” Short and Patrice “Patty” McIntosh. She graduated from Beech Grove High School in 2004.

She lived her own way, did things in her own time and nobody could tell her differently. She knew no other way and couldn’t imagine trying to find one. She wasn’t someone you wanted against you, and were always thankful when she was with you. A force to be reckoned with, a Tasmanian Devil, she truly was a whirlwind of spirit and it would’ve been foolish to imagine her any other way. Those who loved her, loved her deeply and she responded in kind. When you remember her, remember her for her beautiful, loving, crazy spirit. We love you, Nikki and we will carry you in our hearts until we meet again.

Nikki is survived by her parents, Patty and Pryce McIntosh and Bob Short; brothers, Erik Short, Greg Mcintosh, Prycie Mcintosh, Sister Lindsay Belle Mcintosh, Grandmother, Patricia Hendrix, whom she always called her “Pillow”, along with many loving Aunts, Uncles & cousins. Nikki was preceded in death by her Grandfathers, Paul Edgar Short and Harold William Hendrix as well as her Grandmother, Eva Dean Short.

A visitation for Nikki will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main Street, Beech Grove, IN 46107. A funeral service will immediately follow at 7:00 PM also at the funeral home. All guests must wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines. Only 25 guests will be permitted at a time.

Oh Nikki how many times we danced at the dime and laughed and had a great time. You were Heather's best friend and we became friends by both knowing her. I remember the many Pride parades and hanging out after with you and all of your friends. You were a one of a kind person and will be missed dearly. Fly High my friend until we meet again.

Once upon a time, there were 3 girls that did everything together. Cooked, cleaned, watched tv, played with the neighbor kids, told stories about angels, and helped each other set goals for ourselves.

Then, life happened. And it was a roller coaster. Some people got off the ride, some people stayed on for every round on the beast. Some people waved at the riders from the safety of the park bench. But, we all got pictures. And we all laughed and smiled. And we will all remember our special days together. In a world of such darkness, we try to be a light, find a way to smile, and attempt to believe we have everything figured out.

Nikki, I'll always smile when I think about you - bc I remember days that we laughed so hard our bellies hurt and I peed my pants. Lol. 10 years is nothing, compared to all who knew you. Thank you for growing with me and never letting me give up. Thank you for checking on me last year when my grandma passed and my momma was diagnosed with lymphoma. Thank you for dancing in the rain with me, playing on the slip and slide with my son, and for always loving my cooking.

God, please wrap your arms around her and take her to your best fishing hole. Please be with her family and everyone hurting. And let her love live forever.

Her smile could light up a stadium, her laughter welcomed you in, her heart took her through life like a roller coaster over the water—dangerously in love. She is loved. She saw my tractor and couldn’t wait to climb up there!!

You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
