Becky met her husband Jim at ISU, and they married in 1974. They raised their family on the southside where they were happily involved in the many activities of their sons. Later in life, she and Jim spent much of their time enjoying anything involving their five grandchildren.

My sympathy to Jim and all the family on the loss of Becky. She was a special lady. We were classmates at Sacred Heart. She was such a nice genuine person who had a beautiful smile. Her family meant everything to her. I wish I had heard sooner about her passing. You are all in my prayers.
Blessings,

I remember you as a teacher when I was in 5th grade during 2004/2005.

Dear Jim and family,
I was very saddened to read of Becky's passing. I have been retired since 2005 and not kept in close touch. I remember many times talking to Becky in the hall of South Grove. She was a beloved person and liked by all. I know she will be badly missed by you and all her family. Due to Covid-19 I am not going places with large crowds of people. I regret that I could not tell you in person how sorry I am for your loss. I am sure you have a strong family...that's what it takes to get through a terrible loss. May God bless you and yours and hold you in his strong, capable hands.
Retired 2nd, 3rd, 4th grade teacher, and Middle School Librarian from Beech Grove , Jan Mernone

To Jim and Family. We are so saddened to hear about Becky. I can't say that I recall ever meeting her, but I am certain her name came up often during the many years we worked together. In heaven there is no pain or suffering. And that is where she now resides.

My heart goes out to your family at this time of your loss. Becky served as my mentor in exploratory teaching at Beech Grove. I learned a great deal about how to both teach and treat students. I went on to become a teacher based on this positive experience.

May God surround you all with his love!

To her family, I am sorry for your loss. Mrs. Harrell as I knew her was my 5th Grade Teacher at South Grove Elementary 46 years ago. She was one of my favorite teachers. I consider myself to be very fortunate to have had her as a teacher.
With greatest sympathy,

I remember Becky well. She and I were teachers in the Beech Grove City Schools and for a time were building representatives in the Classroom Teachers Association, she at South Grove and I at the high school. Once a month all officers and representatives would meet with the administrators. Doc Showalter had a unique quality of treating each individual equally; that meant the teachers opinions were as important as the principals. At times, it seemed more so. But that's beside the point because Becky didn't need that from Doc or anyone else. Her calm, assured personality, her deliberate, factual comments, and her frankness as she looked you right in the eye, gave her a certain presence. Sure Becky was well liked, and of course very respected, but as much as anything, Becky Harrell was ...genuine. Yes, it is sad her life was cut short, but hers was a life worth living... and remembering.
