Esmeralda Hernandez passed away peacefully on January 20, 2019 in the city of Woodland Hills, CA. She went to be with her Lord at the young age of 43 years. Esmeralda was born July 1, 1975 in the city of Huntington Park, CA. She was the fifth child born to Jose and Mary Gomez.
She is survived by 8 siblings: Jose Jr., Gloria, Victoria, Anna, Armando, Ruben, Cynthia and Amanda and her loving husband, Jose Ignacio Hernandez of 17 years. They had no children but she enjoyed being with and spoiling her countless nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews as if they were her own.
Esmeralda was her Daddy’s Wonder Woman and her Mommy’s Girly Girl and every sibling’s best sister. As her oldest brother, I remember one day while celebrating a sibling’s birthday I was sitting in a chair and she kept bugging me to let her sit where I was. She was persistent in making me move as was I not budging. She got so frustrated at my lack of cooperation that she actually bit me in the butt to get me to finally move.
I was proud as Esmeralda became an honor student in school even being encouraged to enroll in a magnet program at Stevenson Jr. High in East LA. She became a Roughrider once she enrolled at Roosevelt High School where she graduated with honors. She was the first in our family to enroll in a university as she made CSUN her choice of schools.
She was so loving to everyone she knew. She never had a frown, but met everyone and every circumstance with a giant smile. She made her presence felt every time she entered a room whether it was our home, a family gathering or her place of employment at the Human Resources Department at CSUN.
Our family would like to thank everyone for their love, support and especially their prayers at this most difficult time of our lives.
